Top 40 advisory firm, Bishop Fleming, have won Corporate Deal of the Year at the 2017 Business Leader Awards in Bristol.

The corporate finance specialists, with 7 offices spanning from the West Midlands to the South West, deliver accounting, tax, corporate, restructuring and advisory services to businesses and private wealth advice to individuals.

Bishop Fleming’s corporate finance team won Corporate Deal of the Year against stiff competition from across the South West for their lead advisory work on the £17m sale in 2016 of Somerset-based Simulation Systems Ltd, which provides technology-based solutions for the highways sector, to engineering services group, Costain PLC.

Being a listed plc, Costain utilised a relatively large in-house acquisition and integration team on the deal, so it was important for Simulation System’s advisers to stand their ground in order to maximise the deal value.

The Award recognises this transaction as the most important corporate deal of the year across the Bristol City Region and South West.

Bishop Fleming’s Corporate Finance Partner, James Finnegan, commented: “I’m delighted that we have won this prestigious award, reflecting our corporate finance team’s excellent deal-making performance over the past year. It reflects the wealth of talent within the team for its corporate finance expertise; it is one of the strongest, most innovative and experienced across the region.”

Mr. Finnegan added: “The team has advised on a number of major deals for clients, including business sales, family transitions, acquisitions and fund-raisings, working with a wide range of businesses and funders across the region.”

Mr. Finnegan continued: “Our recent level of activity underlines the continued success and strength of our corporate finance and tax specialists in the region. Our offices have teams in place covering both corporate finance and tax. We all work together to deliver the best outcomes for clients wanting to buy, sell, or transform their businesses.”

Bishop Fleming’s areas of expertise include: M&A Lead Advisory (disposals and acquisitions), Management Buy-outs, Due Diligence, Exit Planning, Finance Raising and Grant Services, Strategic Advisory Services, Strategic Board Support, Business Planning and Modelling, Options Appraisals, and Valuation. In addition to the full range of corporate finance services, the corporate finance team also has access to specialist teams within Bishop Fleming including tax, VAT and pensions advisory services.
