Bishop Fleming appointed joint liquidators on major construction firm collapse

21st November 2023

Bishop Fleming has been appointed to manage the liquidation of a major construction firm in the South West.

Brady Construction Services Limited, one of the largest construction businesses in the South West, has ceased trading and entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation on Thursday 9 November 2023.

Luke Venner and Malcolm Rhodes of Bishop Fleming LLP, and Lucinda Coleman of PKF Francis Clark LLP, have been appointed as Joint Liquidators.

The Plymouth and Bodmin-based business, showing a turnover of approximately £64m in its latest financial statements, was involved in some of the most high-profile projects across Devon and Cornwall, including the redevelopment of the former Palace Hotel site in Torquay. Management cited that supply chain failure, inflationary pressures and late customer payments were the principal contributing factors for the business’s demise.

Luke Venner, Restructuring and Insolvency Partner at Bishop Fleming, said:

“This a very challenging period for the company’s stakeholders, and in particular its employees and the sub-contract supplier base. Our immediate focus is on minimising these impacts, formulating a strategy for the realisation of assets for the benefit of creditors, and investigating the circumstances surrounding the company’s failure. We will be contacting all known creditors with further information shortly.”

Any enquiries relating to the above should be directed to Bishop Fleming LLP in the first instance, either by email to restructuring@bishopfleming.co.uk or by phone at 01392 448800.
