Primary school children from across the county have took part in a ‘Cricket World Cup’ to raise money for a local charity.

Organized by the Worcestershire Cricket Club in association with Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants, the ‘BF100 Cricket World Cup’ highlighted the vital funds that are needed for the Cobham Cricket Trust.

Six teams from Hagley Primary, Blakedown Primary and St Kenelms Primary battled it out in the competition held on June 26 at the Hagley Hall cricket pitch.

The children took part in several games throughout the day with Hagley Primary winning the competition.

The competition was followed by a drinks reception to celebrate Bishop Fleming’s centenary year and 100-year partnership with Worcestershire Cricket Club.

Lord Cobham, of Hagley Hall gave personal guided tours of his home throughout the event, which was a fascinating experience for all involved.

Ian Smith, Chair at Bishop Fleming said; “Given the importance of the education sector to Bishop Fleming, we’re really keen to help the work of getting more school children to have the opportunity to take part in a great sport, and with all the benefits that brings.

“It was a good excuse to bring clients and professional contacts together to celebrate our centenary year coinciding with 100-years of our relationship with Worcestershire Cricket Club.”

Lord Cobham said: “My father would have been delighted to witness the joy on the faces of the youngsters participating in the cricket to raise money for Worcester Cobham Cricket Trust at the Hagley Cricket Ground yesterday. A very special thanks to Bishop Fleming for their sponsorship of the day.”

Tom Hill, Worcestershire Country Cricket Club, said: “It was a great event to celebrate the partnership between Worcestershire County Cricket Club and Bishop Fleming, whilst raising awareness and vital funds for the Cobham Cricket Trust. It is always great to see the children in their element whilst playing cricket.”
