Shaun Mooney - Audit & Assurance Manager

Shaun Mooney manages a portfolio charity and not-for-profit, Academy and corporate of audit clients and has significant audit experience and offers client specific and proactive advice to his client base.

Shaun has been with Bishop Fleming since 2012, having joined from a local independent practice and is an Audit and Assurance Manager. He graduated from the University of Worcester in 2006 with a BA Honours degree in Business Management. He prides himself on having open and honest dialogue with his clients and providing a robust and professional service that the client feels they get value from. His accountancy qualifications include ACCA DChA.

He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants as well as being a Trustee for a local museum based charity. He has experience of the accounting and reporting requirements for charity and not-for-profit clients, as well as experience of seeing things from an internal Trustee perspective. This allows him to make recommendations and give advice in relation systems, controls and compliance that are of a benefit to the client.

He has a strong belief that communication, both internal and external, ensures that he understands individual circumstances and complexities of each of his clients. A key part of this is being able to communicate with his clients, regardless of their financial background, in a way that is understandable for them and allows them to implement the recommendations being made. Shaun acts for a large number of Academies, managing the audit and compliance process, as well as dealing with other Academy specific returns and reports. As well as this, he has had involvement in the conversion process for Academies in terms of establishing the taxable nature of income streams and due diligence. He regularly attends Bishop Fleming charity and Academy seminars, as well as having attended Local Government Pension Scheme forums.

In his spare time Shaun is a keen sportsman, particularly football and running, being a West Ham fan and having run several marathons. He is married to his wife Emily with whom he has a Springer Spaniel called Poppy.
